The University of Edinburgh
The University of Edinburgh is one of the world’s top universities, consistently ranked in the world top 50, and ranked 20th in the QS World University Rankings 2020. The entrepreneurial and cross-disciplinary culture attracts students and staff from some 137 countries. The University has more than 400 live partnerships with institutions in more than 65 countries and has a network of more than 200,000 graduates across the globe. Edinburgh is a member of international consortia and alliances of leading universities including Una Europa, the League of European Research Universities, the Coimbra Group, Universitas 21 and the recently launched TenU, which fosters improved collaboration between universities’ technology transfer teams.
Edinburgh Innovations (EI) is the University of Edinburgh’s commercialisation service. EI leads the University’s activities in industry engagement and business development, enterprise support for students and staff, and the identification, management and commercialisation of University intellectual property. EI supports around 130 collaborative research projects a year between the University and businesses, public sector bodies and other organisations, including international and multinational partners. EI also helps around 100 staff and students each year launch startup and spinout companies, which have an enviable record of longevity and investment.
